The HOTPOT project is funded by Interreg which is a community initiative that aims to stimulate interregional cooperation in the European Union. It started in 1989, and is financed under the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

The funding for the HOTPOT project is part of the current programme Interreg IVa France (Channel) England Programme, covering the period 2007–2013.
